ChatGPT's Chrome extension now reads tabs and fills forms
ChatGPT's Chrome extension got an upgrade: @Chrome brings your open tabs into a chat, and the separate ChatGPT Work mode can act in tabs, like filling forms.

What changed
ChatGPT's Chrome extension was upgraded on Oct 15, 2026. It does two different things, and it's worth keeping them apart.
Reading your tabs
Type @Chrome in a ChatGPT chat to bring your open Chrome tabs into the conversation. ChatGPT can then read and compare them, for example summarizing several product pages.
Acting in your tabs (Work)
ChatGPT Work is the part that acts. It can fill in forms, send messages, download files and group your tabs. In OpenAI's demo it filled in and submitted an expense report.
Permissions
By default it asks before using a site. You can allow once, allow for that site, or allow for all sites, and you can block sites entirely.
What we don't know yet
OpenAI's help page lists which ChatGPT plans include Work; check there for your account. How reliable it is on complicated sites is still to be seen.
