Since about October 27, Claude, including Claude Code, pushes back on or refuses to remake specific existing games, including renamed copies. Anthropic says it wants to steer users away from IP infringement. It follows weeks of reports of Steam filling up with vibe-coded clones.
Still OK
- Your own original game ideas.
- Genre games, like a platformer or a roguelike.
- Your own art and assets.
Now blocked
- "Make me [specific existing game]", even with the name changed.
Is banning game clones fair, or overreach?
