What happened
Gemini 4 Argon agents beat Minecraft in a paper posted Oct 15, 2026: researchers Maxence Faldor, Satinder Singh and Roberta Raileanu had four of the agents play Minecraft (Java 1.20.4) together. They killed the Ender Dragon after 27 hours and 14 minutes, with no human intervention.
By the numbers
The agents wrote 2,783 programs, died 605 times and exchanged 229 chat messages to plan and rescue each other. The run up to the dragon cost about $520 in API fees (about $810 for the whole session).
Caveats
This was Easy difficulty and a single run. The agents played through Mineflayer, a code and text interface, not by looking at the screen.
What we don't know yet
With one run, we don't know how often this would succeed, or how other models would do in the same setup.

Figures and screenshots are from the paper.
