The market on Wednesday
Oracle stock jumped 10.7% to $144.54 on Wednesday, October 28, up from $130.53 the day before. The S&P 500 rose 0.28% to 7,743.98 and the Nasdaq rose 0.27% to 26,549.85. The Federal Reserve held its benchmark rate at 3.75% to 4% the same day.
Why Oracle rose
At its Investor Day in Las Vegas, Oracle said it expects more than $225 billion in revenue in fiscal 2030, which it described as more than 35% compound annual growth from fiscal 2026. It also targets a non-GAAP operating margin of 40% or more in fiscal 2030. Reuters tied the jump in the shares to the long-term outlook.
The borrowing plan
Oracle said it will cap additional capital raises at $20 billion through fiscal 2030, about $10 billion of equity and $10 billion of gross debt, not counting refinancing. It expects free cash flow to turn positive in the second half of fiscal 2028 and to exceed $30 billion in fiscal 2029. Reuters noted that Oracle relies heavily on OpenAI for its growth.
