What Tesla said
Tesla's Q3 2026 update, released Oct 21 after the market closed, says Optimus production began in Fremont on its high-volume lines, and calls these its first production-quality Optimus bots.
What Musk added on the call
Elon Musk described it as early production and said the start is somewhat bumpy. He said reaching 20,000 robots a week will take at least a year, and that deliveries to outside customers should come around the end of 2027.
Money
Tesla lowered its 2026 capital spending plan to about $20 billion, from about $25 billion. On Thu, Oct 22, Tesla stock closed at $374.58, down about 3.1% from $386.47 the day before. This is a news recap, not financial advice.
What we don't know yet
Tesla hasn't said how many production robots it has built so far or what jobs they do. Timelines are Musk's own targets.
