TSMC may raise CoWoS packaging prices 10–20%, Commercial Times reports
Taiwan's Commercial Times reports TSMC may raise CoWoS packaging prices 10 to 20%. CoWoS packs AI chips with HBM memory; Nvidia and AMD accelerators depend on it. Tool lead times stretch up to eight months. TSMC has not confirmed.

Taiwan's Commercial Times reports that TSMC may raise prices for CoWoS advanced packaging by 10 to 20%. TSMC has not confirmed the report.
What CoWoS is
CoWoS is TSMC's packaging process that puts a logic chip and HBM memory side by side in one package. High-end AI accelerators from Nvidia and AMD rely on it.
Why capacity is tight
Reporting tied to TrendForce and follow-ups from Tom's Hardware, Investing.com and others say demand from AI GPUs and ASICs is stretching packaging capacity. Equipment lead times are now quoted as long as about eight months, up from a shorter window earlier.
Who feels it
If the hike lands, more of the cost sits with the chipmakers that buy CoWoS capacity — and, downstream, with the cloud and AI companies that buy those accelerators. How much gets passed through is still open.
Who pays when CoWoS gets squeezed?
