Tuesday Labs Voxel: would you pay $20,000 for this robot butler?

Voxel from New York's Tuesday Labs tidies up, fetches things and waters plants. It's a prototype, some tasks still use a human remote pilot, and deliveries are expected from 2028.

What it is

Voxel Series-1 is a counter-height home robot from Tuesday Labs, a New York startup. Its listed jobs: a "home reset" that puts things back where they belong, finding a lost item by telling you where it last saw it, fetching things like a book or your keys, and watering plants.

Built like a cartoon character

Tuesday Labs worked with former Pixar character designer Alonso Martinez. "We deliberately didn't build a humanoid," founder Rosalind Shinkle told Dezeen. The team wanted to stay far from the "uncanny valley." So Voxel is boxy and colorful, with LED eyes and simple grippers. Fast Company reports the team designed its movements as animation first, then tuned the real robot to move the same way.

What it costs

Tuesday Labs gives an estimated price of $20,000 and says that estimate may change. A reservation is $200, refundable in full if you cancel before ordering. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2028 and may be later, possibly starting in select areas of the US.

What to keep in mind

Tuesday Labs' own reservation terms call the Voxel in its launch materials "a concept and development prototype" and say the hardware will likely be substantially redesigned before delivery. Dezeen reports it does its chores today with "a combination of autonomous intelligence and teleoperation," meaning a person steers some of it remotely. Early customers opt in to help train its software at home.
