Unitree H2-X's car-door kicks are a staged stunt reel
Unitree's H2-X promo shows a humanoid fighting off a knife attacker and lifting a car. It's staged for the camera, and Unitree hasn't said who was in control.

What it is
Unitree Robotics, the Chinese maker of robot dogs and humanoids, posted a new promo on October 21 called "H2-X Kung Fu Legend Guardian." In it, the H2-X humanoid kicks in a car door, fights off an attacker holding a knife, pulls a person away from a moving car, and lifts a car to free someone.
How to watch it
Treat it like a movie stunt reel. These scenes were planned and staged for the camera. That doesn't make the robot fake: the balance, speed and strength on screen are real hardware doing real moves. But a staged scene doesn't show what the robot would do on its own in a messy, unplanned moment.
What we don't know
Unitree hasn't said whether the robot was acting on its own or being remote-controlled during these scenes. It also hasn't shared a price for the H2-X.
Why it matters
Promos like this show off a robot's body. They say much less about its brain. When you see one, three simple questions help: was it acting on its own, how many tries did it take, and what does it cost? For the H2-X, we don't have those answers yet.
