Anthropic, Claude, Gemini 4 Carbon, GPT-6.1 Terra and Genie 4 made the five AI stories you might have missed this week. The AIs spent most of it hunting bugs.

1. Anthropic filed to go public

Anthropic made its IPO filing (an S-1) public on Monday, October 26. It plans to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker ANT; the number of shares and the price range were not set yet. The filing shows revenue of $16.29 billion for the first half of 2026, up from $1.16 billion a year earlier. In the US session that day, the Philadelphia chip index rose 2.8%, the S&P 500 rose 0.7% to 7,676.77 and the Nasdaq rose 0.8%. Not financial advice.

2. Claude found 62 security flaws in Chrome

Anthropic says an unreleased internal Claude research model found 62 Chrome vulnerabilities, all rated critical or high severity, including 13 sandbox escapes. In one demo, four bugs chained together let a web page open the Calculator app on a Mac within seconds of loading. All 62 are patched as of Chrome 156, so updating Chrome is the fix.

3. Gemini 4 Carbon ranks #1 on a top AI index

Google launched Gemini 4 Carbon on October 28. Google says it ranks #1 on version 5.0 of the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index with a score of 59, and scores 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro, a test of finding software flaws. For now it is only available to a subset of cyber defenders, with more trusted partners added over time.

4. GPT-6.1 Terra uses your computer for you

OpenAI's GPT-6.1 Terra, launched October 26, reads what's on the screen and clicks and types across apps. OpenAI says it is over 3x faster than GPT-6 Astra and matches Astra at one-tenth the cost per token. In the API it costs $1 per million input tokens and $5 per million output tokens. In ChatGPT it is on Plus, Pro, Enterprise and Edu plans.

5. Genie 4 builds live worlds, now with sound

Google DeepMind's Genie 4, announced October 27, is a world model that builds a place you can move through in real time, and now makes the sound too. You can type to change things, like the weather. It is a research preview for trusted testers.
